Say Yes to the Things That Light You Up

The second I heard the term “life coach” 30 years ago, something sparked within me.

“What a great alternative to therapy,” I thought. “It’s not about fixing what’s wrong, but opening a pathway to better ways because of what we’ve experienced and learned from the past!”

And then, I did the thing that thwarts so many great initiatives: I talked myself out of it.

The push to explore life coach certification never went away. It kept nudging me, whispering, and at times practically shouting. Ten years later, I finally said yes and took the training.

That yes changed my life.

What I Gained from Life Coach Certification

Personally

  • My challenges are no longer steeped in drama, self-doubt, or self-criticism. I now see them as opportunities to grow in love for myself and take a stand for strong love and healthy boundaries.
  • I can truly listen to others without being pulled into their struggles. Instead, I authentically reflect their strength, growth, and potential.
  • I navigate my inner world with more clarity and make confident decisions about where to focus my time and energy.

Professionally

  • I get to witness others shift, grow, and light up with new awareness and life skills.
  • I hear stories every day about the ripple effect of their transformation—the positive impact they’re making in their own lives and in the lives of others.

The Power of Saying Yes

Looking back, I often wonder what might have been different if I hadn’t delayed my yes for 10 years, but then I remember that looking back is one of those things that thwarts growth. Instead I focus on what I learned and can apply in my life today: resistance stifles progress, I have the tools to overcome it, and embracing opportunities by saying yes is profoundly transformative.

Saying yes to the things that light you up is a choice that shapes your life in ways you can’t yet imagine.

If you’ve been considering something that sparks your curiosity and excitement, don’t wait as long as I did. Give yourself permission to say yes. You never know how deeply it might transform you, your relationships, and the way you show up in the world.

What’s been nudging you? What’s the thing you’ve been curious about but keep talking yourself out of?

Maybe now is the time to simply… say yes.
