The Power of Inspiration: Are You Listening & Following Its Prompts?

Inspiration is often stopped by logic. Be brave, open and trusting enough to follow its lead just because, at the end of the day, you can say, “I did something adventurous.”

With this mindset, I set forth for a breakfast meeting. On my way I suddenly heard the exciting thought, “Stop at Seesters for lunch.” I thought “maybe,” and off to my meeting I went.

On my way home, inspiration spoke again, and I pondered over the idea, “What? I don’t eat lunch at restaurants by myself. I have too much to do and not enough time, but I promised myself I would follow inspired ideas today.” I slowly drove past the restaurant as I contemplated further, “At the end of the day, would you be more proud of staying on course and going home or following this idea?” As I curiously turned the car around, I realized I could overcome my unease of dining alone and being unproductive by brining my laptop in with me.

Moments after settling down, I saw my neighbor, whom I had missed dearly since she had a stroke. My heart leaped with joy, but that was not all. She was accompanied by the friendly neighborhood barista, who was moving to Colorado the following week. I had wanted to say goodbye to her before she left. I had no idea the two women knew each other.

That night, I went to bed knowing that life is full of little adventures. I just need to stay open to them.
